Letter sent by train to Lübeck. In Lübeck over handed to Stadt Post Amt Lübeck . Letter transferred to Königlich Dänische Ober Post Amt Lübeck. Sent via Lübeck because Denmark would avoid paying the 2 Schilling Schleswig-Holstein transit. Conveyed by the Danish steamer to Korsør, by train to Copenhagen.
The Norwegian steamer left Copenhagen for Oslo August 9th, postmarking the 10th.
1st of August 1865 Prussia/Danmark had agreed for unfranked mail that Prussian share should rise
from 2 to 21/2 Sgr, Danish share should fall from 2 to 11/2 Sgr. It is obvious that the two changes would leave the postage at the previous level. For a short period primo August 1865 Norway only observed the change in the Prussian share.
This gave rise to the very rare Postage Due of 27 Sk.Sp, that was overruled by the Norwegian circular of August 10th 1865.
